Installer Guide: Schneider EVlink Home Smart

Connecting a Schneider EVlink Home Smart (Schneider Charge, EVH5 range) to ChargerMate. Covers EVH5A07N2xx (7.4 kW single-phase), EVH5A11N2xx (11 kW) and EVH5A22N2S (22 kW three-phase, socket). Tethered and socket versions are set up the same way.

What you need
  • The charger installed, powered, and within reach of the site Wi-Fi, or an Ethernet cable to the router.
  • A phone with the free eSetup for Electricians app (Schneider Electric, iOS and Android).
  • The site owner's phone number or email, to send them the setup summary eSetup produces at the end.
Installer: charger side (about 10 minutes)
  1. Power on the charger. Its Wi-Fi access point stays on for about 4 minutes. If you miss it, switch the charger off and on again.
  2. Open eSetup for Electricians, choose the Schneider Charge / EVlink Home Smart product and connect to the charger. On first commissioning the app asks you to set a PIN of at least 6 digits for the charger (it cannot be 123456). Record it; the site owner needs it for any future change to the charger's settings.
  3. Network. Join the charger to the site Wi-Fi, or select Ethernet. Let the app update the firmware if it offers to; this can take a few minutes.
  4. Smart charging application. After the network step the app lists charging applications. Choose Other smart charging application. A Supervision screen appears:
    • Remote Supervision URL: replace the pre-filled Schneider address with ws://ocpp.chargermate.com.au:9000 (plain ws, not wss).
    • Charging Station Box identifier: keep the value the app pre-filled. The site owner needs this exact value later.
    • Basic Authentication: leave off.
  5. Save. The charger restarts and connects to ChargerMate.
  6. Send the summary to the site owner. At the end of the process eSetup copies a text summary to your phone's clipboard. It contains the charger PIN, the supervision URL and the box identifier. Send it to the site owner only (SMS or email) and delete it from your phone afterwards.
Site owner: ChargerMate side (about 5 minutes)
  1. Log in at chargermate.com.au and add the charger from the operator dashboard.
  2. Set Number of phases to how the charger is actually wired on site (Single or Three), not what the model is capable of. Set Power Rating to match (7 kW for single-phase, 22 kW for three-phase) and Power Limit in amps. ChargerMate pushes the limit and phase count to the charger as an OCPP charging profile, which caps the current the charger delivers.
  3. Open the new charger's page, choose Change OCPP ID and paste the Charging Station Box identifier from the installer's summary. The two must match exactly, or the charger will never show as connected.
Check it worked
  • Within a minute or two the charger's page shows status Available and no configuration errors.
  • Plug in a car and start a session from the charger's page in ChargerMate, or by scanning its QR code. The charger should start within about 30 seconds.
